A family history

Carlo Cimino

I would like to describe in a few lines a long and difficult journey that began in 1979 in order to let the young people know the feeling of satisfaction, that comes, when a goal is achieved.

This was the dream of a young man who had no business past, but relied solely on his own values and strength.

My name is Carlo Cimino and I would like to tell you about my story. All began with the simplicity of a man who sacrificed a lot, to be able to fulfil his dreams.

43 years ago, I bought my first stone oil mill and I was able to generate a modest "agricultural inheritance" that allowed me to raise my beloved sons Antonio and Giuliana.

Today they are by my side, determinedly pursuing our common goal of producing an excellent Italian extra virgin olive oil to be offered to all of them that want to be a part of a dream that came true, a dream called Oil Mill San Carlo.

To be here and to tell our story, represents itself a great emotion, and I must confess that, if I look back and see how far we have come, it still doesn't seem possible.

Alongside a man of few words, but full of willpower, we never spared ourselves, and we worked hard, day by day, almost without the feeling of fatigue, which actually was promptly arriving every evening after dinner, and was making us fall asleep as soon as we laid our heads on the pillow.

When Antonio and Giuliana, our two children, were born, the joy they brought me and Carlo renewed our strength and our desire to do even better.

Our love for Antonio and Giuliana and the dedication to our work have brought us to be a united and strong family and to the Oil Mill San Carlo! Which are basically the same thing!

I would like to thank my husband, with whom I share values and every day of my life, and our children, Antonio and Giuliana, who are now making the family business, Oil Mill San Carlo, even more precious with their presence and knowledge!

Antonio and Giuliana Cimino

Perhaps we are the ones in the family who are more astonished for what has happened over the years.

We were lucky enough to grow up in a united and strong family and to have a peaceful and playful childhood.

As children, we were always running around the fields, listening to the sounds of the oil mill in the background and smelling the oil in the air. As we grew up, our paths followed a different one, and after graduating we started working around the world as engineers for multinational companies, following the values that have always guided our parents: passion, determination and desire to do.

continue  >>>

But among all the values, the love for our family and our land prevailed, and it brought us to come back to our Marcellinara, taking over the family business.

Coming back home and working at home is for us something special, because we have the opportunity to use our skills and competences into our company.

The loop that began in 1979 when our father and mother bought the first oil mill seems to be closed with us: our family is once again all together in what was once our parents' dream, the Oil Mill San Carlo.

Giuliana and I met a lifetime ago, we were just two kids when we got together.

I remember it as if it were yesterday, those were the years of high school, and in fact I could see her every morning on the bus that drove us both to school.

The hope was to meet her again in the afternoon, in Marcellinara’s main square, which was the meeting point of the your people of our hometown.

The love grew and strengthened, and today Giuliana and I are husband and wife!

Carlo and Rosa welcomed me into their family, making me feel as if I were one of their children.

I've always had a high respect for the Cimino’s family, for their approach to things, their humility and their hard work.

It is a family with deep values, they have made their own way, through many sacrifices, but they have never stopped smiling: they have something charismatic in their simplicity.

Today the Oil Mill San Carlo is a great reality and knowing that I am part of this project makes me feel proud.
